It can be SO challenging to create content when you simply don’t have any time outside of your busy job and family life.
Which is why I went on a quest to find out ways to get FREE blog content that your readers will love. I’m happy to say that I succeeded and now you get to steal my strategies without forking over a dime.
A few months ago, I shared in my Facebook group that I “did something” but couldn’t reveal what it is.
So, if you’ve been following that thread and waiting in anticipation, this blog post is for you!
As someone who coaches people in outsourcing, I typically don’t tell people how to get free blog content, but this time is an exception because I believe that you’ll be able to accomplish SO much more knowing this.
Let’s get started!
How I Get FREE Blog Posts My Readers Love
Sometimes, you have to be a little creative to get free content. I certainly was when I came up with the concept for this post.
Free content is simply defined as content you don’t have to pay for. I wouldn’t use it for your pillar content, but it can be great as supplementary content.
Here are the 5 ways I currently get free blog content:
- Build My Content
- Interview Series
- Guest Posts
- Round-Ups
- Videos and Transcriptions
I’m pretty sure you haven’t tried all of these yet 😉
Let’s explore these more!
1. Build My Content
This is explicitly what I was referencing in the picture of the Facebook post from a few months ago.
I found a service that will send you FREE blog posts and upload them natively to WordPress.
Their posts are typically around 400-800 words.
Now, I want you to know that I do not publish the content as is.
I always go through, edit it, personalize it, and make it come from my voice. But, I’ve shared these articles as my own in my Facebook group and nobody’s even suspected they came from a free content service.
Guess the cat’s out of the bag now!
Here are the current ones published to date:

- How to Genuinely Connect With Your Blog Readers
In case you’re curious, I received and published these articles from them over the span of around a month and a half.
Not bad for content you don’t have to fully write!
There are a few caveats about working with them you should be aware of:
- Content can only be published on the domain you applied with
- Source and reference credits must be kept (AKA, leave the links and photos in)
- Content must be published within 12 days and remain published
- Content should not be dramatically altered
- Members should be respectful about response times
Now, you may immediately think that this is a facade for them to build backlinks for their paid clients.
I have NO evidence to support the notion that this is a link-building service for their paid clients and they don’t mention that on their website.
I’ve personally checked ALL the links they include and I make sure they’re relevant. And, if I don’t like the anchor text, I’ll change it and make it more reflective of the article.
I remove the image they provide from being the featured image and put it at the top of the article before my Pinterest image.
They’re also receptive to feedback!
I’ve informed them about:
- Not leaving in superfluous code when uploading to WordPress
- The size the images they include should be
- Links that point to a domain and not an article
They’re gracious about fixing what they need to and add it to my style guidelines for future articles. And, they do this with a rapid turnaround 🙂
In case you’re curious, they work with all kinds of niches, not just business ones!
If you want to apply to Build My Content and become a member for FREE, you can apply here (I stand to receive NO compensation from you doing this).
They’ve come in clutch for me numerous times when I’m swamped and can’t produce content. I can’t recommend them enough!
And, if you’re really nosy and want to know what the article looked like when I received it, I copied one before editing and you can read it here.
2. Interview Series
My interview series is a GREAT source of free content.
If you haven’t checked out the Scaling Success Stories yet, I highly recommend it!
Many successful 6-figure and 7-figure entrepreneurs have joined in to say how they grew, scaled, and outsourced their way to revenue heights they didn’t imagine.
Some of my favorite interviews include:
Feel free to check them out!
If the thought of starting an interview series has your panties in a bunch (is that PC, ladies?), then I have an amazing resource for you to read when you have some time.
It’s a guest post for Jeff and Ben at Breaking The One Percent (whom I met at FinCon this year!). It’s titled “How to Start an Interview Series With Leaders in Your Niche” and it’s a solid 2,500+ words.
There are even free spreadsheets and email swipe copies!
3. Guest Posts
I love accepting guest posts.
They’re essential for my networking strategy and they also help to build backlinks.
Which is also why my guests love them!
I’ve gotten some questionable guest posts in the past, so I’ve raised my standards since I started accepting them, but when you partner with the right people, they turn out as ready-to-go articles.
Some of my favorite guest posts on this blog are:
- How I Genuinely Make $3,500 Per Month Outsourcing Sponsored Posts
- 6 Little-Known Benefits of Offshoring vs. Outsourcing
- How to Successfully Crush the 5 Stages of Business Growth
Depending on how aggressively you promote that you accept sponsored posts, this can be an additional 1-2 posts per month that you wouldn’t have had otherwise.
And, you can also guest post on other sites at the same time to maximize your content footprint. I totally just made up that term, but something I’m not making up is this amazing system to create content faster.
4. Round-Ups
Round-ups are a lot of fun to do, but they can be time-consuming, so I’d only recommend this once or twice per month.
And, if you want to get approved by Mediavine, they shouldn’t comprise too much of your content repository.
Basically, the concept is that you crowdsource for answers. Other people contribute their content, you throw them a backlink for their participation, and they help you share the article.
That’s a win-win for me and less time for content creation.
Here are a couple of round-ups I’ve done:
- 9 Pinterest Hacks That Will Explode Your Traffic
- How to Stop Blogging (And Grow Your Business)
- 50 Business Coaches Reveal Their Secret Business Processes
The more people you include, the more effort it requires.
But, I find that having other people contribute reduces my overall time investment and you do get free blog content out of it that represents diverse perspectives 🙂
5. Videos and Transcriptions
Check out YouTube after you finish reading this post and search for a topic you blog about.
See some videos you enjoy?
Embed them in your content and create a concept around it. Videos are a great way to keep your readers on the page longer and having multimedia means you can appeal to more people.
I’ve done this in a few posts:
Just be careful with including TOO many videos in an article because it will take longer for your page to load.
If you create videos yourself, then you can transcribe them and get free blog content from your spoken word. I use Otter.ai for this and you can get 600 minutes for FREE per month.
You’re welcome 🙂
We speak much quicker than we type, so it’s a major content creation hack.
I’ve done this before on my interview series articles where we record a video and also when I feel like speaking an article.
The transcriptions are pretty good but will need to be edited with a fine-toothed comb just to make sure no grammatical errors persist.
Conclusion
I hope you learned a new way to get free blog content in this article!
But, I think the biggest asset you have in getting free blog posts is YOURSELF. If it took you only 1-3 hours to create a blog post, you’d be a content machine.
Content is King is the eBook that helped me to write 2,000 words per hour (yes, seriously!) and you’ll be disappointed if you don’t check it out.
In case you need a quick refresher of what we went over in this article, we discussed these methods:
