Do you know what I love more than anything?
Helping people achieve success.
To me, there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing someone grow their business beyond what they ever thought it would.
I like to be a part of that process in any way I can, from being the first freelancer the budding online entrepreneur hires to helping with strategy sessions and plotting the new business direction.
Being the Favored Freelancer
I’ve been privileged to work for some amazing businesses and receive rocking testimonials, but I enjoy building relationships more.
It all started when my social media marketing teacher told me to start a blog because it would help differentiate you in the interviewing process for a new job. Ever since I heard her say that, I dove head first into the online blogosphere, where I built quite a reputation rather quickly.
That led me to be sought after for a customer service virtual assistant position with Create and Go.
I began to think… “hey, I kind of like this.”
And, I still do. I love freelancing because it allows me to directly help entrepreneurs and provide value to them and their audiences.
The 5 Fears of Outsourcing
After working for a few months in that position, I began to understand why more struggling entrepreneurs don’t outsource:
- They think that they’ll do a better job than anyone they hire will do. Period. No exceptions. They understand their audience and how to interact with them and think that’s something that can’t be taught.
- If they continually flex their hustle muscle, they’ll achieve more success. After all, that’s what got them there and the same tactic can apply to grow beyond where they are.
- They have trust issues. Will someone they hire run their business properly without babysitting?
- They think it costs too much money to add people to their team. Not to mention, the change on filing taxes.
- They’ve only ever managed themselves. Do they have what it takes to effectively manage a team to foster success and growth?
Let me tell you…
These fears are real. They’re tangible. And, until you can control your mindset to think differently, you will hold back your business’ growth.
The right freelancers (such as me) won’t cause these fears to manifest. They’re only thought until you decide to believe them.
Start Scaling Successfully
My parents are both teachers. Well, my Dad retired to pursue his Ph.D., but that’s beside the point.
Can you guess what phrase I heard from them and all the teachers I’ve befriended over the years?
If teachers ran the school, it would be run completely differently.
I believe that wholeheartedly.
Principals are great at supervising a school, but the teachers are the people in the classrooms experiencing problems and devising solutions to erase them.
Freelancers are a very similar discussion. Here are just a few reasons why you want freelancers on your team and managing aspects of your business.
Freelancers…
- Are detail-oriented
- Always stick to deadlines
- Are excellent communicators
- Are responsible and accountable
- Understand they’re part of a larger goal
You need people like this on your team, especially as you begin to scale.
The Science of Success
You need to focus on implementing systems and freelancers work very well with systems.
Growth isn’t sporadic or arbitrary–it’s formulaic and systemized.
Instead of trying to balance everything yourself like a kid on a teeter-totter, you should be fulcrum that balances the beam that swings from side to side. You need to be in control of your time and how you spend it on labor.
Of course, you will fail. Your business might become lopsided in the process, but failure is an essential component of success. It allows you to understand what not to do.
Hiring freelancers lets you establish the systems that will enable you to start scaling successfully.
Scaling isn’t brain surgery or rocket science, but there’s definitely a scientific aspect to success.
English mathematician and scientist Oliver Heaviside makes a great point:
Shall I refuse my dinner because I do not fully understand the process of digestion? ~Oliver Heaviside
Just because you’re not yet aware or even cognizant of the underpinning framework of successful businesses, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t begin to scale the right way.
Success comes in bite-sized amounts in the beginning. Let me help you make it mouthfuls.
Why Hire Me?
Full disclosure: I’m a barely legal 21-year old effeminate male who desperately wanted to pursue a career in singing, but didn’t.
Even though I may sing The Impossible Dream from Man of La Mancha a little too much, none of what I just said makes a difference.
Certain people aren’t more successful than others. There is no success gene you either got or didn’t get at birth.
I’ve forged success in an unlikely way in a short period of time.
In my first year freelancing, I grossed nearly $10,000 in revenue as a full-time college student, president of the largest club on campus, part-time campus dining employee, and a whole lot of other things.
I made success happen for me because I prioritized what I had to so that I could get there. It’s about making choices.
Today, I want you to write a list of things that you think you’re not good at in the business. Then, make a promise to yourself that you’re going to investigate hiring freelancers to cover that part of the business.
Look, I realized that I didn’t have the time to write content, so I didn’t focus on that side of the business. Content marketing wasn’t my priority.
Instead, I focused on freelancing because that was an effective use of my time that produced tangible results and got me paid quickly.
Start with just one freelancer. It can even be someone from your audience. That’s how it happened to me.
The Next Steps
All you have to do is make a choice and commit to it.
So, are you ready?
Hop on over to my hire me page and fill out the form. I’d be willing to venture that something on that page is on the list of things you wrote down that you needed help with.
Cheers to future success!
